Portable Document Format (PDF) Files

Portable Document Format (PDF) files contain the color, graphics and text of hard copy, but are easy to distribute electronically and are widely used on the Internet.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

To view or print a PDF file, you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you may download at no charge from the Adobe web site. (Acrobat is a trademark of Adobe Systems Incorporated.)

Once you download and install the Acrobat Reader, you may need to configure your browser to define the Adobe Acrobat Reader as the associated application for .pdf files. The Adobe web site has additional information on configuring your browser and troubleshooting any printing problems.

Viewing PDF Files

To view a PDF file, left click the link; depending upon your browser configuration, the PDF file may appear in the same or a separate window.

If you attempt to view the PDF file and the browser window remains blank (a known bug in certain versions of some browsers), right click in the blank window and select the "Reload" option. Or, return to the previous page, right click the link and select the "Open in New Window" option.

Saving PDF Files

To save a PDF file to your computer, right click the link and select the option to "Save Link As" or "Save Target As."

To save a PDF file to your computer once the PDF file is already open, click the File Save Icon for saving file icon on the Acrobat Reader toolbar.
